Charleston Jewish Federation is keeping our Jewish and greater Charleston community updated on fast-moving developments in Israel’s war with Hamas.

How You Can Help

Charleston Stands With Israel Emergency Fund

On Friday, Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) announced an unprecedented half-a-billion campaign to which each of the 146 federations is asked to contribute to help families and children in danger, the elderly, including Holocaust survivors and disabled, lone soldiers, and victims of physical and emotional trauma.

Jewish Charleston’s fair share of this campaign is $550,000 and we will need your continued generosity and support to meet this urgent goal.

In one week, CJF’s Charleston Stands With Israel Emergency Fund has raised $325,000. The generosity of our donors never ceases to astound us, but the scope of the devastation is unimaginable, and we need to continue to raise significant support. 100% of your donation goes to providing emergency relief and support in Israel including the Jewish Agency for Israel, JDC, IsraAid, World ORT, Israel Trauma Coalition, United Hatzalah, Magen David Adom, ZAKA, Barzilai Medical Center, and the Soroka Medical Center.

Sending Support to Our Friends in Hadera-Eiron

  • We have received many requests for community members to be able to do something tangible for our friends in Israel. We have received a request from our sister city, our partnership in Hadera. Hadera is about 45 minutes North of Tel Aviv, and because of this location, are sheltering other Israelis who have fled from the south. Early estimates are telling us there are at least 500 families, many with young children, are taking shelter in or near Hadera. We have been asked by our colleagues in the region to contribute to a letter-writing campaign (pictures and drawings are also welcome) to offer support. Please send your letters to our Federation office at 176 Croghan Spur, Suite 100 Charleston SC 29407 c/o Erin Boynton. You can also email her

  • Follow our Partnership 2Gether Hadera-Eiron Southeast consortium on Instagram and on Facebook for updates from our region.

Actions Your Federation Has Taken

Federations across North America, including Charleston have held over 120 solidarity gatherings as part of an unprecedented effort to support Israel. Watch the video and learn more about last week's Charleston Jewish Community-Wide Israel Solidarity Rally last week.

We continue to work closely through our Regional Jewish Community Safety and Security Initiative as we monitor for any enhanced threats across the community and our Jewish institutions. We are also working with statewide Jewish institutions on security assessments as they reach out for assistance.

We also want to thank the Charleston Riverdogs and Charleston City Hall for so proudly sharing Israel's flag this past week. If you see others supporting us please share and tag Charleston Jewish Federation on social media.
