Dear Friend,

Yesterday, 650+ Charleston community members came together to sing Hatikvah, hear from our community rabbis and friends in Israel, and pray for the safety of our people at the  - Charleston Stands With Israel -  solidarity gathering.

Israel and our worldwide community have faced inestimable losses over the past days. Difficult days lie ahead. But we gather strength and hope from each other and from our resilience. Chazak Chazak v’nichazeik, Be strong. Be strong. And we will strengthen each other.

How Can YOU Help?

We have been showing up for Israel for the past 75 years and will be forever. The Charleston Jewish Federation has launched the Charleston Stands Wit Israel Emergency Campaign to immediately and effectively provide critical aid where it is needed most.

Thank you to everyone who has given. We are still in the early stages of this ongoing crisis, and your help is urgent to surpass our $500,000 goal by Friday, October 13th to respond immediately to the evolving needs.

100% of all funds raised go directly to supporting our partners in the field, the Jewish Agency for Israel, the JDC, and World ORT to effectively and immediately provide comprehensive support ranging from basic needs to evacuation housing, care, and aid to the most vulnerable. For more information about funding priorities, click here.

If you prefer, you can send a check payable to the Charleston Jewish Federation with “Israel Fund” noted to 176 Croghan Spur, Suite 100, Charleston, SC 29407. If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), please recommend a grant to the same address. For phone donations, call Rebecca Engel at 843-614-6484.

Our immense gratitude to those elected officials who came out to support our community, City of Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg, Council members Ross Appel, Peter Shahid, and Keith Waring, Police Chief Chito Walker, Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano, Council members Herb Sass, Jenny Honeycutt, Larry Kobrovsky, Brantley Moody, and Colleen Condon, State Senators Sandy Senn and Sean Bennett, State Representatives Jordan Pace, Wendell Gilliard, and Spencer Wetmore.

A special thank you to law enforcement who made last night's event safe for all of us and continue to ensure the safety of our community. Through our SCN Charleston Jewish Community Security Initiative, CJF has been in constant contact with the FBI, Homeland Security, and local police. We will continue to provide updates, training, and resources to our local Jewish institutions.
